Malin Carlberg is an Associate Director at VVA Economics & Policy in Brussels.
She has over 10 years’ experience of impact assessment, evaluation and other analytical studies, and over 15 years of professional experience. Malin has undertaken evaluations and comparative studies of Competence and Excellence Centres in e.g. the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Spain (Catalonia) as well as worked on studies measuring the long-term impact of the EU’s Framework Programmes 1-6 and FP6-H2020 respectively.
For the Swedish Innovation Agency (VINNOVA), Malin has worked on a study into the long-term effects of the Swedish Competence Centre programme on industry participants’ (to feed into the Swedish Government White Paper on Research 2012) and on an impact assessment of strong research and innovation groups in Sweden, which focused on Swedish industry and innovation priorities.
Prior to working in the research and evaluation field, Malin worked full-time for five years on understanding and facilitating funding opportunities for universities and businesses alike.
Malin holds a BA in Political Economy from the University of East London and a MA in Global Political Economy from the University of Sussex. She speaks Swedish and English, and has a good understanding of Danish, Norwegian, and German along with some French.
